The town of Uherské Hradiště has long been the natural center of Slovácko – a region famous for its distinctive folklore, cimbalom music, quality wine, richly decorated folk costumes, and a number of preserved folk traditions. The historic core of the town has been declared a municipal conservation zone.

The surroundings of Uherské Hradiště are crossed by several long-distance cycling routes - for example, Greenways from Vienna to Prague, the Moravian Trail bringing cyclists from Olomouc along the Morava River all the way to the Lednice–Valtice area, the long-distance route from Vienna to Brno, and last but not least the Moravian Wine Trail, which connects wine routes representing individual wine-growing areas in South Moravia.

The most popular areas for hiking in Slovácko include Pálava, the Lednice-Valtice Cultural Landscape, the White Carpathians and the Chřiby.

Slovácko boasts a unique historic waterway — the Baťa Canal, which is navigable from Otrokovice all the way to Strážnice. The Baťa Canal is 50 km long and offers an attractive and unusual way to discover Slovácko.
