As of 1 January 2011, a total of 602 inhabitants lived here, on a total area of 12.04 km². Due to its location, the picturesque surrounding landscape, and the well-preserved natural and cultural monuments, the municipality is a sought-after tourist and recreational destination. The municipality of Rusava lies within the administrative district of the municipality with extended powers of Bystřice pod Hostýnem and is a member municipality of the voluntary association of municipalities the Podhostýn Microregion, the civic association Local Action Group Podhostýnsko, the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic, the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Eastern Moravia, the Association for the Renewal of the Countryside of the Czech Republic, and the Association of Municipalities for Waste Management.
