Brno Reservoir is a waterworks on the Svratka River. It was created by building a dam at river kilometer 56 of the Svratka and flooding the valley with the village of Kníničky.
In the vicinity of the Brno Reservoir there is a considerable number of holiday cottages, guesthouses, hotels, and restaurants. This area is visited most in the summer months. Popular ways to relax at this time of year include sunbathing combined with swimming, trips in the surroundings, a boat cruise, or a pleasant sit-down in the garden seating area of one of the local pubs. In winter, the frozen water surface becomes a sought-after place for ice skating and cross-country skiing.
At the Sokolské swimming area there is a beach volleyball center; below Kozí horka you will find a boating sports complex; in the area between the Bystrc harbor and the dam, the boathouses of the Brno Yacht Club are built.
