Kuks Hospital is a former care institution for military veterans in Kuks in the Trutnov District, operated from 1744 to 1938 by the Order of the Brothers Hospitallers.
The hospital rises on the edge of a hill above the right bank of the Elbe. It is laid out perpendicular to the north–south axis, pointing toward the former chateau with spa, which occupied a dominant position above the opposite bank of the river. The gently rising slope between the river and the hospital provided space for a now-vanished, artistically valuable and symbolically conceived complex, whose main part was a racecourse decorated with statues of Braun’s dwarfs.
The hospital complex features exhibitions devoted to the hospital’s history, the history of pharmacies and the production of medicines, and the tomb of members of the Špork and Swéerts-Špork families.
