Janské Lázně is a world-famous spa town and at the same time the second highest-rated ski resort in the Czech Republic.
The quiet little town with an unusual history lies at the foot of Černá hora (1,299 m above sea level), whose summit is reached directly from the town by a gondola lift. Thanks to newly built cable cars, ski lifts, and cross-country ski trails, the town has become a top sports and recreational center and an ideal starting point for the highest Czech mountains, the Krkonoše—both in winter for skiers and in summer for cyclists and hikers.
