Opava Municipal Swimming Pool was built in 1930–1931 in the Municipal Gardens area according to the plans of Opava architect Otto Reichner. The complex was opened to the public on June 28, 1931, and in its history it was closed for only one season—during the year of the great flood in 1997. The complex includes a main pool divided into two halves—swimmers and non-swimmers—and a children’s paddling pool, continuous shallow paddling channels bordering the pools, a sandy beach with a music pavilion, and a sun terrace. Modern attractions also include two water slides, a sandy area for beach volleyball, and a children’s playground. Minigolf is also nearby. A special feature is that the water in all pools is heated. The swimming pool’s capacity is up to 5,000 people per day.
Next to the children’s pool there is a children’s corner for the youngest visitors to the outdoor summer pool, where benches, climbing frames, swinging attractions, a small gym with a slide and swing, and an inflatable bouncy castle, etc., are provided.
