Prague is the capital and at the same time the largest city of the Czech Republic. Prague has developed into its present form over eleven centuries. As the historic metropolis of Bohemia, it was in the past the seat of Czech dukes and kings, Holy Roman emperors, and the capital of Czechoslovakia. Prague is generally regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. The historic city center, with the unique panorama of Prague Castle, the largest castle complex in the world, is a UNESCO protected area. The city’s monuments are concentrated in the municipal heritage reserve, which includes Prague Castle with St. Vitus Cathedral, Charles Bridge, Strahov Monastery, Vyšehrad, and many others.
