The town of Olešnice is located in the Upper Svratka Highlands, in the valley of the Hodonínka stream at its confluence with the Veselka brook.
The well-preserved nature in the surrounding area, largely protected within nature parks, is suitable for nature tourism. There is also a ski resort directly in the town. In 1999, the municipality received the Village of the Year title and later that same year was promoted to a town.
