The first written mention of the municipality of Prusinovice dates back to 1349. The municipality is popularly nicknamed Rohálov, because of its municipal coat of arms, which features ox horns. Prusinovice is located near the Hostýn Hills, which offer many opportunities for hiking and cycling trips.
Since 1993, a now traditional running race called the Rohálovská Ten has been held in the municipality every year, and since 2010 also the Rohálovská Fifty mountain bike race.
