Loučná nad Desnou lies in the valley of the upper reaches of the Desná River above Velké Losiny, below the Červenohorské Saddle in the Jeseníky Mountains. In winter, Loučná offers plenty of ski resorts with snowparks and freeride routes, groomed slopes for both recreational and demanding skiers, and on cross-country skis you can enjoy long kilometers of groomed trails through the Jeseníky mountains. In summer, Loučná is a good starting point for hiking and cycling. Near the village there is the Dlouhé Stráně pumped-storage power plant, which is one of the seven wonders of the Czech Republic.
