Štramberk is a town in Moravia in the Nový Jičín District near Kopřivnice. It lies on the slopes of Zámecký Hill, Kotouč and Bílá hora in the Libotín Hills in the foothills of the Beskydy Mountains. Štramberk has held town status since 1359. The town’s landmark is Štramberk Castle (Strallenberg) with the Gothic Trúba tower (a so-called bergfried) 40 m high and 10 m in diameter, which has served as a lookout tower since 1903. The Zdeněk Burian Museum is located here. The local urban heritage reserve protects not only the town center itself, but especially the historic wooden buildings in the suburbs.
