The town of Police nad Metují is located in the Náchod District in the Hradec Králové Region. The historic town center is an urban heritage zone with many historic buildings. The most notable landmarks include the Benedictine monastery from 1213, the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, and the Empire-style fountain.
From the town, it is just a short distance to many rock cities. The most famous are the Broumov Walls and Mount Ostaš.
