Humpolec is a town in the Pelhřimov District in the Vysočina Region, 23 km northwest of Jihlava. The town is surrounded by forested hills. From the eastern edge of the town rises a hill (644 m above sea level) on whose summit are the ruins of Orlík Castle. A new observation tower was recently opened at the castle; it is a steel structure inserted into the castle tower and promises magnificent long-distance views of the countryside around Humpolec.
