Frymburk is a market town in the South Bohemian Region in the Český Krumlov area, located on a peninsula on the northern (left) shore of the Lipno reservoir. Frymburk is an important tourist center, used in summer by those interested in hiking, cycling, water sports, and fishing, and in winter especially by skiers and ice skaters. The surrounding area is crisscrossed with hiking trail markings and cycling routes. The most important cycling route is the Šumava cycle path, leading from Vyšší Brod via Lipno nad Vltavou along the left shore of Lipno all the way to Nová Pec. To the west and south, the town borders the Šumava Protected Landscape Area.
