The town of Abertamy is part of the area known as the Silver Triangle. The town was founded at the beginning of the 16th century by miners who were searching for silver here. Remnants of mining activity are still visible in the surroundings of Abertamy today. Today, Abertamy is one of the popular recreational centers of the Ore Mountains.
