The Nechranice water reservoir, with an area of 1,338 ha, is the sixth largest reservoir in the Czech Republic and also the reservoir with the longest earthfill dam in Central Europe (3,280 m). It was built on the Ohře River between 1961 and 1968, mainly as a source of water for the nearby power plants in Tušimice. Today it is primarily used for recreation. Part of it has been designated a bird protection area and is part of the Natura 2000 network.
