Ústí nad Labem is a statutory city in northwestern Bohemia and the capital of the Ústí nad Labem Region. Ústí lies at the confluence of the Elbe and Bílina rivers. To the south it borders the České středohoří, and to the north the Ore Mountains. The most notable monuments in Ústí are the neo-Gothic rebuilt Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with its leaning tower, the restored castle ruin of Střekov Castle, and the excursion restaurant (small chateau) Větruše. Among modern structures, the Mariánský Bridge over the Elbe River should be mentioned. The city has its own zoo, founded in 1908.
