The historic town and port of Šibenik in northern Dalmatia lies around the rugged and picturesque Šibenik Bay, into which flows one of the most beautiful karst rivers, the Krka. Šibenik is connected to the open sea by the narrow and deep St. Anthony’s Channel.

The city’s most important monument is the Cathedral of St. James on Croatian Republic Square, which is one of the finest buildings of the European late Middle Ages and has been inscribed on the UNESCO list.
