Vsetín is located at the foothills of the Vsetín, Hostýn and Vizovice Hills around the Vsetínská Bečva River. There are many interesting buildings in the town: the Evangelical church of the Lower congregation with a tower and the Evangelical church of the Upper congregation without a tower, the parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the style of post-White Mountain Baroque, Maštaliska – a former manor farmyard, and the Old Town Hall building. Vsetín is also a cultural town. Traditional events are held here, such as Valašské záření, the International Folklore Festival Vsetínský krpec, the international photo competition Interfotoklub, a Jazz Festival, or the Summer Film Marathon. Year-round sports activities are offered by the municipal swimming baths with a waterslide, squash, bowling, or spinning. In winter, the Horní Jasenka ski lift is in operation, and in summer you can play mini-golf, beach volleyball, or go cycling on the cycle path or on five marked mountain-bike routes.
